"I hurt my right Archilles' Tendon some many years back due to long hours of reckless cycling. Tui-na method and pain-killer tablets gave me only temporary relief. Through years of prolonged intermittent pain...the pain became unbearable each time I walked.
"I gave myself a chance (at) ART and the technique worked like a miracle. In each of my treatment session(s) with Tze-wei Lim (ART Provider), He skillfully broke up the adhesions...He also worked on my upper ankle joint and my heel bone...After (completing) five sessions with him, my foot was completely restored.
"Finally, I was able to enjoy painless motion as I walked and even ran. What a relief!
"I will definitely recommend ART as it is non-invasive and definitely effective.
"For permanent result(s), ART is it!"
- Shirley Thng, 39 year-young Secretary
"I came to seek ART treatment for my right knee after discovering that treatment from (a) Chinese sinseh and a visit to the bone specialist in TTSH (Tan Tock Seng Hospital) were not of much help. Before ART treatment, there was a constant nagging pain in (my) right knee. Tze-wei's treatment helped relieve the pain (in my) right knee...
"...soon came another problem with the...right ankle. Tze-wei immediately administered ART treatment which benefitted me alot...
"ART treatment is really useful. It has greatly helped stop the pain and now I'm able to continue playing (hockey) without feeling much pain. Thank you, Tze-wei, for helping me solve the problem. I really appreciate it."
- Chua Yi Zhen, Melissa, 17 year-young competitive hockey player for
Saint Andrew's Junior College
"...I was diagnosed with Scoliosis in 2002 ...and being seated for long hours throughout the day only helped to worsen the pain in my back. Finally, I decided to seek treatment to alleviate the discomfort and stress my back (was) making me feel. Before allowing Tze-wei to treat me, I had actually been to other physiotherapists (who had provided) only short term relief of the pain.
"Allowing Tze-wei Lim to treat me was indeed a blessing from God. Tze-wei was meticulous in seeking out the exact problem areas. Once these areas (were) located, Tze-wei would treat them...I have truly benefitted from his treatment of my back. It feels less tense and I definitely recommend other patients who experience back pain to (seek treatment from) Tze-wei..."
- Lim Bang Quan, 21 year-young Singapore national serviceman.
"'One of the most capable fitness instructors I have seen in Asia in recent years.'
"During the time that I have known Lim, he has shown great desire to widen his knowledge in all work related areas...Lim takes his job extremely seriously and has, because of that, spent a great deal of time acquiring a high level of knowledge in the field of health and fitness...Lim has the patience and aptitude to pass this knowledge on to others, whether it is in teaching new concepts to his peers or instructing a personal training client...
"In my position, I would often consult with Lim on issues in which he shows great strengths - such as human movement mechanics and biomechanics...He shows great empathy and character...His concern for five-star service made his conduct shine through."
- Bryan Hoare, BA Hons, MSc, Fitness and Leisure Director of The American Club, 5 March 1999
Welcome to the world of .......Permanent Healing!
We provide various top-class services to help you, our client:
Firstly, I must thank you for choosing our practice. You have given yourself and us the opportunity to demonstrate to you the most advanced techniques of manual PERMANENT healing that exist in the world today.
Here's a little about the background of our techniques:
The Active Release Techniques Soft Tissue Management System was developed and founded by Dr. Michael Leahy, DC, CCSP. Dr. Leahy is currently conducting research with the University of California San Diego Medical School on cumulative trauma disorders. Additionally, he serves on the Colorado Division of Worker’s Compensation Guidelines Committee for the treatment of cumulative trauma disorders. Dr. Leahy’s works have been published in several peer- reviewed journals.
Active Release provides is a patented and revolutionary method using Advanced Histological Techniques to diagnose and treat the underlying causes of a variety of conditions collectively called cumulative trauma disorders, . These disorders are also known as repetitive stress injuries or "overuse" syndromes. These syndromes are given familiar names like rotator cuff syndrome, tendonitis and plantar fascitis. Other conditions that fall directly into this category are post- operative scar tissue, carpal tunnel, chronic low back pain, and hyper extension/flexion injury (whiplash).
The Trigenics Myoneural Medicine system of treating muscle imbalances was developed by Dr Allan Oolo Austin from Estonia and Canada. He is an Osteopath, a Chiropractor, and has a PhD in Accupunture (www.trigenics.net).
Trigenics Myoneural Medicine is also a patented and revolutionary system that treats acute and chronic soft-tissue injuries, using Advanced Neurological Techniques.
"I need to tell you that there is no pain at all on my bunion. Swell is gone and when I tried bending my big toe, there was no pain. :-) Your treatment was a miracle. I'm elated."
- Shirley Thng, 42 year young Senior Officer, North District, Singapore, 12 September 2008.
Active Release is a highly successful approach to the treatment of injuries of muscles, tendons, nerves, and the surrounding soft tissues. Active Release is not massage, physiotherapy, or chiropractic care. While those procedures relieve muscle and motion dysfunction, they do not necessarily address the underlying problems caused by scar tissue formation.
The fact is, unlike Myofascial Release or Trigger Point Therapy, ART IS NOT TAUGHT IN CHIROPRACTIC, PHYSIOTHERAPY, PHYSICAL THERAPY, OR MASSAGE SCHOOLS. This is because the techniques in ART are PATENTED to protect the high standards that ART practitioners are trained to practice with.
ART providers move the client's body in a very specific direction while SIMULTANEOUSLY applying a manual tension in a very specific direction on the structure being treated. This is vastly different from any of the abovementioned soft-tissue treatment approaches, which may utilize one or the other at any one time but not simultaneously and in the directions specific to ART. ART is not Muscle Energy Technique nor Positional Release Technique either. Active Release Techniques has over 500 protocols that are patented and specific to itself.
THE KEY DIFFERENCE IN ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUES IS THAT THE RESULTS PRODUCED ARE PERMANENT, unless of course the client re-injures himself. But pain, weakness, or restriction that has been resolved do not re-appear after treatment with ART.
Injuries caused by poor posture or problems with the length-tension relationships in muscles may have to be prevented from re-occurring through simples exercises that involve specific types of lengthening and strengthening.
The three most common
All three are a part of the cumulative injury cycle. Soft tissue structures in the body change or adapt with time: these changes are predictable and can be felt by the ART Provider. Chronic or "older" injuries actually feel different from Acute or recent ones.
Active Release has proven to be especially valuable for athletes, from the professional to the beginner. Ninety percent of the time athletes with Acute or Long-Standing muscular strain/sprain injuries experience complete recovery -- in a short period of time. However, ART is not a miracle cure and while many respond to it with improvements, there are many who don't.
Throughout an initial examination, we focus on the client’s specific problem areas, using Active Release to diagnose the presence of Abnormal Inflammation and Scar Tissue Adhesions. We then discuss findings and recommendations for treatment with the client. Recommendations include what kind of treatments are necessary, how many treatments are needed, and the Prognosis for a Complete Recovery. We treat the affected area by using Active Release Techniques -- a unique combination of pressure, tension, and motion to reduce the scar tissue adhesions that are causing your pain.
Many clients experience complete recovery after only 5–10 visits, although this depends on the severity of their injuries. Because of the soft tissue component, where other treatments fail, ART often succeeds. The bottom line is that clients get well quickly, completely, and with much less expense. In fact because success rates are so high and costs are so low, the Colorado Compensation Insurance Authority is funding a study comparing Active Release to more conventional or typical treatments for cumulative trauma injuries.
To understand soft tissue injury, you must understand the basic mechanism of cumulative injury. For example, cumulative trauma disorder is the major injury problem in the workforce and the general population in the USA. Federal statistics show that it now surpasses back pain, and has worsened by 670 percent in the last 5 years. Past therapies such as massage, heat, cold, electrical stimulation, rest, exercise and surgery – have all failed to treat them effectively.
Symptoms of cumulative trauma disorders are sensations of tingling, burning, aching and weaknesses. When a muscle, tendon, ligament, or nerve is damaged from trauma or overuse, the body will attempt to repair the damage with scar tissue. These scar tissue adhesions left untreated perpetuate the cumulative injury cycle and result in progressive loss of function and increased pain. Soft tissue dysfunction often leads to a loss of flexibility, strength, and range of motion. People often attribute these losses to "just getting old," but this is seldom the case.
Active Release Separates, Releases, and Stretches the Connective Tissue Adhesions, restores vascular and lymph circulation, and increases your range of motion, flexibility, and strength.
The treatments can be a bit uncomfortable, or even a little painful, but this pain is an important indicator that the problem has been located and signals that the treatments are correcting the injury. Clients often report that it "hurts good."
Regardless of your activity level you can benefit from Active Release. From those who are victims of car accidents -- or even the proud weekend warrior -- Active Release has proven to be a fast, effective, non-invasive way to heal a wide variety of soft tissue injuries.
As mentioned in the last section, often, mechanical injuries can lead to dysafferentation, ie, the sensory nerves send the wrong signals to the brain, which in turn leads to dysefferentation, ie, the brain then sends the wrong signal back to the injured body part. You must understand that the posture and position of each of our body parts are constantly Monitored and Maintained by such Nervous Communication between the Brain and those body parts. If the brain receives the wrong signals that were caused by an injury to a certain body part, it too would send the wrong signals back to the injured body part, resulting in that body part being held in a contuously wrong Posture and Position, leading to Chronic Pain.
Trigenics aims to restore the Normal Nervous Communication between our Brain and our injured Body Parts.
Generally, 5 - 10 sessions would be a good estimated number of sessions required for full recovery.
The first 3-5 sessions are used to diagnose the problem producing the symptoms. This is not an easy task as every location has various muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and fascia that run in different directions to each other. Any work done in the right location but on the wrong structure (in the wrong direction) will produce an effect no more than a massage would.
This is where ART and Trigenics are different from massage as they require tremendous accuracy and produce PERMANENT results while massage does not.
After the structure causing the symptoms has been identified, it takes on average another 5 sessions to produce permanent results on the structure and remove the symptoms experienced by the client.
However, sometimes a client would present muscle imbalances that would require more sessions to correct.
We try our best to resolve every client's conditions. However, not every client will benefit to the same extent from the treatment sessions.
Each consultation and treatment lasts either up to 20 minutes or 45 minutes. Some conditions may require a 45-minute slot for the first session and only 10 - 15 minutes for subsequent sessions. Some conditions require only 20 minutes from the first session. And some conditions require a 45-minute slot for all the sessions. The length of the first appointment is determined when the therapist discusses with the client over the phone about the condition(s) that have to be treated. The length of subsequent sessions is determined after the first session.
Making an appointment is simple.
Simply pick up your telephone and call 9-735-8344 while in Singapore. If you are not in Singapore, just dial "65" (Singapore country code) before dialing the number above. If no one picks up the phone, we may be busy with clients or out of the office on house calls. Please leave us a voice message including your name, contact number, and the time and date you would like to consult with the ART and Trigenics Physician.
The Tri-ART provider should call you back as soon as possible to confirm the appointment or to arrange for another timing.
The treatment is usually done with the client fully clothed. The client should refrain from wearing a skirt for treatment as ART treatment requires movement of the client's limbs in various positions.
Also, the client should refrain from wearing thick fabric such as leather or denim, as this prevents the practitioner from palpating the soft-tissues of the client properly and treating the injury adequately. The client may wear either long pants or shorts of soft material for the treatment of lower back and hip injuries.
Track pants are okay provided they do not have a top layer of nylon or crepe on them because these would make the pants too slippery for proper contact.
